ADULT & YOUTH TOURNAMENT - (Adult & separate Youth Division – See below)
SPECIAL YOUTH MAKE OFF TOURNAMENT – Ages 8-17 – For this youth contest there can be up to 3 people on a team (2 MUA’s and 1 Model) All of the team members must be in the required age bracket. The Theme will be “Scary Super Hero’s or Villains” (Does not have to be original as is required with the adults). There will be certificates of participation for all contestants plus a 1st and 2nd cash prize for this division. Fees TBD- Based upon Sponsorships
October 5, SAT: “FINALE - Tournament of Champions” – Location site will be at the Haunted Hydro Dark Attraction Park, Fremont, Ohio during regular Halloween seasonal operations as part of the festivities for hundreds of park goers. Themes, Set up times & more info TBA to finalist Sept. 15.
$75.00 per entry team this includes a minimum of 1 makeup artist and 1 model - maximum of 2 makeup artists and 1 model. NEW this year: Each team will receive 3 COMPLIMENTARY admissions for a family member or friend to attend events held at the Fremont Community Rec Center only.
$5.00 Admittance for general public attending to watch and cheer on their team. Bring a group of 5 or more purchased adult tickets and pay only $3.00 per person at Fremont Community Rec Complex only.
One MAKEUP (MUA) TEAM Member must be 18 or over… and the other MUA can be 16 or older and the model must be 16 or older as well. SPECIAL NOTE: There is a YOUTH division on Sep. 15 with a fun competition for those under age to enter and strut their stuff right alongside the adult teams!
All teams will receive a commemorative award of participation certificate with special certificates given to the 1st place and Runner-Up winners.
All teams will each receive a gift certificate for 3 passes to the Haunted Hydro s.
1st Place Winner of each completion and the Runner Up will win the GOLDEN TICKET and be entered in the finale for the Tournament of Champions. If either of these two teams cannot attend then it will go to the competitions 3rd place team of that competition. There are no fee’s to participate in the finale.
The Tournament of Champions winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000!!!

COMPETITION SCHEDULE
NOTE: Doors will open at 12:30pm – 1:00pm and be available for TEAMS ONLY to register and begin prepping their areas – ALL teams MUST be set up and ready to go by no later than 1:15pm – Preshow photos taken at this time.
12:30pm: Team ONLY Registration and set up – Be on time – Plan ahead
1:00pm: Doors open to the public
1:30pm - 3:15pm: Make-off Competition (1 hr. & 45 minutes)
3:15pm - 3:30pm: Last Looks, Final Photos and Judges Tally time
3:30pm: Winner is announced
3:30pm: Event is over – Models and teams clean-up (showers are available)
3:30pm – 4:00pm: EVENT STAFF CREW clean up
ENTRY FEE:
$75.00 per team. Team group size is restricted to no more than 1 model and 2 makeup artists plus NEW this SEASON - 1 Media Person to create video, photos or steaming live video activities. SPECIAL NOTE: Credit must be given to Monster Make-Off Tournament of Talent for all images posted. Also NEW this YEAR: Each team that pays $75.00 to enter the July and September competitions will receive 3 COMPLIMENTARY admission ticket to give to a family or friend to come watch the event team is registered for at the Fremont Rec Complex.
When teams fill out their Google Form online they will be required to have a TEAM NAME, names of all MUA’s and the model also if they are going to have a Media person and a BRIEF BIO on each member and any interesting facts about their team as well. Each team is to explain the background and who/what the character is they are creating using which tools of the trade, etc…. MMO reserves the right to edit info as needed to meet the shows time limits, etc.
AGES – 1 MUA must be 18 or older… the 2nd MUA must be 16 or older and the model must be 16 or older. . Turner Enterprise and the Haunted Hydro reserve the right to make exceptions to age requirements on a case by case situation. A formal request must be submitted well in advance. Anyone in violation of this without approval will have points deducted by the judges or possible disqualification could also occur.
Sponsorship endorsement is welcomed and encouraged. PLEASE NOTE: Facebook, Twitch, YouTube, Videos are allowed and encouraged provided proper competition credit is given to Monster Make-Off Tournament of Talent. Media person must give MMO Camera Crews complete “right of way” cooperation during competition.
Teams may enter more than one event, however, once a 1st place team and runner up is chosen for that competition, they cannot continue to compete as they are already pre-qualified for the finals on October 5, Saturday at the Haunted Hydro Dark Attraction Park Event Finale.

Team Payment is the only thing that guarantees them a spot in the competition. Payment can be made easily using Paypal or a check or money order can be mailed to producers at: Monster Make-Off, 1025 Tiffin St., Fremont, OH 43420
ONSITE ENTRIES:
It is highly recommended that teams use the Google Registration Form to ensure your entry into this competition!
No guarantees can be made using this option as there is limited space at all locations. However, if space is available we will be happy to include a last minute onsite entry into the competition with proper documentation.
Cash or checks (with proper ID) can only be used for onsite entries.
PARTICIPATION EXPLANATION:
This event is open to both amateur and professionals including: general public, haunted house makeup artists, haunted house staff, paid consultants, community and professional theaters, businesses representatives and more are all encouraged to enter. Past Judges are also welcomed to participate as long as they are not a judge during the 2019 season.

Teams are required to check each competitions scheduled times for set up and organization of their competition area. Sponsorships and commercial endorsements will be allowed with signage being no bigger than a 2’x3’. Team photographs, videos, live streaming and some interviews will take place during this time as well by MMO3. Individual media is allowed on a per team basic level providing full disclosure of event, location and owner production is made in media usage. Videotaping is to be of model and Makeup Artists associated with that team only!
Once the competition starts the team will not be allowed to leave the stage for any reason or have items brought to them at their competition work space. Points may be deducted should this occur!
Teams are expected and are allowed to bring all necessary make up, tools, appliances, and special effects needed for this competition. This includes water, bowls, towels, gloves, hairdryers, extension cords, brushes, sponges, make up remover, adhesives, etc…. Any live flame usage or effects must be communicated in advance prior to competition date and must adhere to the State of Ohio laws pertaining to “Flame Effects before an Audience”. Electric will be provided to each team.
Teams will have 105 minutes (1 hr. & 45 minutes) to work their magic on the model. Subject matter must match the monthly theme. The model is also allowed to assist with makeup and costuming as needed.
This is a complete body, neck, face, and hair makeover/costume competition. Character creations will be judged on full presentation.
All forms off make up will be allowed including but not limited to airbrush, latex, oil base, water base, and appliances.
Small appliance pieces such as: ears, nose, scares, chins, horns, eye lashes, bone pieces, wounds, cuts, eyes, bullet holes, cheek and forehead build ups are all welcomed and can be mass produced, handmade, or store bought. Please note: no full face or slip masks will be allowed!!! No half or full front facial appliances will be allowed!!! If appliances are 1 piece and cover 50% or more they will not be allowed!!! 50% is considered: VERTICAL: left face or right face with the tip of the nose being center point out. HORIZONTAL: tip of nose as center point to hair line going up and the tip of the nose to bottom of chin going down. Personally casted items must also adhere to the rules above and could potentially be awarded judges choice bonus points if you have proof of your efforts. Warnings will be given if the judges feel teams are not following these rules and if changes are NOT made – Point deductions will be taken off final Scores based upon severity of infractions.
TIP – You are allowed to pre-paint and prep props & have costumes ready to save on time!!!! NEW THIS YEAR - Prosthetics or appliances for the model are NOT ALLOWED to be pre-painted prior to the competition.
Wigs, hair pieces, bald caps, hats, creative head pieces are allowed
If using a Bald Cap/Head Piece for model… it must be separate item from any and all facial appliances and not attached or be used in any way to represent a mask or pull over facial prosthetic piece; ie: Meaning from the hairline down the face is considered a facial piece and top of forehead back is considered a head piece. Head piece cannot be connected “initially” to the facial piece because then it becomes part of the face and would be over 50%!
All teams will be photographed before, after and during the competition and Turner Enterprise, Inc. reserves the right to use any and all subject matter for promotions or trade purposes. Photographs and or videos are works for hire and Turner Enterprises Inc. is deemed to be the owners of any copyright and or trademark rights therein.
Unbecoming conduct will not be tolerated and is grounds for immediate disqualification without compensation or reimbursement.
Each team must complete and sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and a liability and publicity release.
This 3rd year event is a unique competition and will be evolving each year as we produce and grow… we reserve the right to tweak/adapt and/or change some things as we go along for the betterment of the event, participants and attendees. If we make any changes or additions or further clarifications on things we will put it in writing to one and all on our Facebook pages and also notate and/or highlight change on printed documents as well.
MODELS:
Model must be acceptable for community standards
Females- must wear a bikini or bodysuit if character creation requires this.
Males- must wear at least speedos or similar item for proper coverage.
This event is considered a community event. All models must be aware of facility acceptance and patrons of all ages will be attending.
Any questionable situations deemed inappropriate will be dealt with by the event staff and there judgement. This will be final in all circumstances!!
Changing rooms/areas are available at all locations.
COSTUMING/PROPS
Any and all costuming for the model must be brought by the team and set in their competition area prior to start time. Models may be all or partially costumed prior to start time if they wish. No advanced make up or appliances will be allowed to be applied prior to start time.
Props may be brought in and used for the FINAL LOOK… and can be everything from a Wheelchair, Prosthetic leg, Arm, Walking cane/stick, Bicycle, Wagon. Cage, etc… but bear in mind the only extra points you can receive from the judges on them is up to a total of “5” additional bonus points.
JUDGING
Will be based on the following criteria… and up to a maximum of the following points will be given.
Fits Monthly Theme and Character Bio Description (10 pts)
TEAMS are encouraged to come up with an original & creative NAME and BACK-STORY for their CHARACTERS!
Face - Makeup and/or FX on Face (25 pts)
Neck/Torso/Arms/Legs (10)
Hair/Head (10)
Hands/Feet (10)
Costuming (20)
Overall Look (10)
Props and/or Bonus Points for Judges choice – (5)
Up to 3 Additional Bonus points may be given for the Models final look & presentation to the judges!
PERFECT SCORE would be: 103 points!
Judges are also encouraged to write positive and constructive criticism notes on contestants score sheets. Score sheets are copied and given to each team for educational and improvement purposes.
JUDGES
There will be 3 official judges. GEOFF BECK will be our Leading Makeup qualified Judge #1 throughout all challenges including the finale to keep consistency throughout the competition. The 2 other judges will vary each month but will consist of the following: 1 will be Halloween/Horror or Makeup professional and the 3rd judge could be a lay-person or guest celebrity judge from the community or the media. Crazy Bob Turner will be the deciding vote ONLY in case of a tie.
FINALE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT OF TALENT RULES:
Octobers finale Make-Off will consist of 2 teams from each preliminary competition: A 1st Place Winners and Runner-Up.
The October THEME will be chosen for the Finale but will not be announced until after the September 15 preliminary competition to allow all teams to have the equal amount of planning and preparation time.
Makeup artists must be the same original artist for the finals
Should a 2 person makeup artist team lose a makeup artist for the finals, no substitutions will be allowed!
Models, however, can be substituted or changed
If a team cannot attend the finals then the 3rd place on that competition will then be allowed to participate in the finals.
In the event that a 3rd place Team cannot attend then the Producers of the event will draw a wild card from all the other competitions 3rd Place Winners.
Further instructions and guidelines for the FINALE will be sent to the winners as the time gets closer if needed.
